Plans for the stadium began in 1919, when Holibird and Roche won an architectural competition to build the stadium as a memorial to American soldiers who died in wars. In addition to being the home field of the Chicago Bears football team since 1971, Soldier Field has hosted rock concerts, thrill shows, rodeos, tractor and truck pulls, and circuses.

All About Soldier Field

Soldier Field stadium and the surrounding 57 acres of beautifully landscaped parklands offers visitors breathtaking lake and city views alike, day or night. It is unquestionably the most unique and dynamic venue in Chicago for any inside or outside event. Past events date back to it's completion in 1924 and include visits from President Franklin Roosevelt, evangelist Billy Graham, heavyweight champ Jack Dempsey, and many famous "firsts" in worldwide event stadium hosting.

This famous stadium has hosted sold out sporting events, concerts, television commercials and much more. It is home to the beloved and famous Chicago Bears football team, who moved from Wrigley Field in 1971 and played their first game in the renovated Soldier Field stadium in 2003. Inside the stadium's outer walls are suites and magnificent colonnades for trade shows, corporate events, charity hospitality events, weddings, and any type or size event. Catering is available for any size event and any type menu from stadium fare to five-star restaurant menu selections.

The pristine parklands lie on 30 lush acres and consist of a sledding hill, Children's Garden, Veterans' Gold Star Memorial and other select areas for hosted outdoor events. This gorgeous parkland overlooks Lake Michigan and has hosted outdoor concerts, festivals, corporate events, weddings and much more. Areas included have names such as Stadium Green, Great Lawn, Southwest Lawn and East Lawn. These large sectioned areas allow for auto shows, walks for charity and other events to take place simultaneously.

The new Soldier Field parklands today contains a Water Wall, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. Visitors can also enjoy nearby boating at Burnham Harbor, and many of the free activity areas on the 57 acres of parklands known as the Museum Campus and Northerly Island. From Special Olympics to family reunions to bicycle riding events, there is always room and excitement at Soldier Field. Year round five-star event capability with attention to detail and a dynamic history keeps Soldier Field the first choice for memorable events.
